Lost & Found

If being found means I must embrace fear, then count me as lost
If being found encourages my fear to form an allegiance with hatred, then count me as lost
If being found causes my hatred to form an allegiance with bigotry, then count me as lost
If being found allows my bigotry to entertain discrimination of any kind…
Please, oh please, count me as lost

Do not come find me to live in your world of fear
Do not come find me to live in your world of hatred
Do not come find me to live in your world of bigotry
Do not come find me to live in your world of discrimination

This is not the conviction of faith
This is not the perception of hope
This is not the expression of love
Rather it leaves the handprint of ignorance
The footprint of arrogance
The stench of evil
And the bloodstains of the innocent

Count me among the found when it leads me to a faith secure enough it rejects fear
Count me among the found when it leads me to a hope bright enough it engulfs hatred
And count me among the found when it leads me to a love so great it includes humanity
